Woman Found Dead After House Fire: York County Coroner (Update)

A 59-year-old woman died in a house fire in York on Wednesday, authorities say.

The fire broke out at a home in the 4500 block of Hikey Street near Regal and Amy avenues in Dover Township, according to emergency dispatchers. 

Emergency dispatch was alerted to the fire at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 23. 

Police officers did not find an active fire when they arrived at the home, but it did appear that one had occurred and been put out, according to the coroner's release.

Just before 3 p.m., a coroner was requested to the scene. 

Deputy Chief Coroner Michele Kirchner and Deputy Chief Coroner In Training Jackie Hefferner responded to certify the death and investigate.

An autopsy is scheduled at Lehigh Valley Hospital at 11:15 a.m. on Thursday, according to the coroner's report. 

Northern York Co. Reg. Police and the State Fire Marshal are investigating.

Her next of kin has been notified but her name has not been shared with the public.
